Traffic Travis | Travis County Commissioners To Discuss Austin Jobs, Growth

AUSTIN -- Travis County Commissioners must make decisions Tuesday that could directly impact new jobs and growth in Austin.

The commissioners have a packed agenda, but what many will be watching for are two decisions linking Apple toAustin and Formula 1 to Elroy.

Travis County must decide whether it wants to lure Apple toCentralTexas. Commissioners are considering offering a $6 million incentive.Experts say it's worth the price. According to Austin economist Angelos Angelou, any incentive will be returned tenfold through the community.

Commissioners are also getting updates and are slated to decide whether to approve a permit request for Formula 1.

Race officials still need to secure the mass gathering permit from TravisCounty before November's race. The permit requires any business drawing 2,500 people or more for five hours to come up with a plan for public safety and traffic.

The commissioners meeting began at 9 a.m.
