The police department will be conducting a traffic safety checkpoint Tuesday evening on the city's northwest side in response to residents' complaints about bad drivers in the area.
Police plan to close one eastbound lane of Northwest 19th Street between the 2400 and 2700 blocks starting at 6 p.m. for the four-hour checkpoint.
Vehicles will be randomly selected. Officers will be inspecting vehicles and examining drivers' licenses, vehicle registrations and proof of insurance, according to a news release.
The checkpoint is being set up in response to complaints regarding speeding and other traffic violations, said department spokesman Det. Travis Mandell.
The operation is not expected to significantly affect the flow of traffic.
