Man who exposed himself sought
Austin police are asking the public for help in identifying a man they say indecently exposed himself on Christmas Day less than a mile away from where two women were assaulted and a 29-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment on New Year's Day.
Investigators do not know whether the indecent exposure case is related to the murder and assaults that took place in the same area on Jan. 1 and do not have any evidence to show they are connected, said Austin Police Lt. Michael Eveleth.
Police released little information on the case, saying that about 5 p.m. Dec. 25, the man exposed himself in a residential area in the 300 block of East 31st Street.
The subject is described as a man 20 to 30 years of age and 6 feet tall with broad shoulders. He was wearing a white polo-style shirt with horizontal stripes that were mostly orange and baggy blue jeans that looked new.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sex crimes unit at 974-5230 or Crime Stoppers at 472-8477 (TIPS).

TxDOT extends truck toll break
Lower tolls for big rigs on Texas 130 and Texas 45 Southeast will last through Jan. 25, the Texas Department of Transportation said Wednesday, after the 2-week-old price cut yielded a sharp increase in truck traffic on the tollways. TxDOT, which had been charging 18-wheelers three times the toll rate for two-axle cars, decided in December to charge all vehicles the same lower rate from Dec. 21 through Jan. 4.
Cars, depending on whether they have a toll tag, pay between $6.40 and $8.53 to travel the 56 miles of Texas 130 and Texas 45 Southeast. Having trucks pay that same amount, at least over the holiday period, increased truck volume by more than 39 percent on both roads, TxDOT said.
