At about 6:50 p.m. on Monday, Kenneth Deckard, a 48-year-old resident, was involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of Redlands Boulevard and Highland Avenue.
"Deckard was driving a 1995 Buick La Sable westbound on Redlands Boulevard when for unknown reasons, he struck a light post," the website said.
No other vehicles or people were involved in the collision.
He was transported to Redlands Community Hospital by paramedics, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The Redlands Police Department said Tuesday that the collision was still under investigation, and the cause of death may be determined when an autopsy is performed.
According to Lt. Travis Martinez, Deckard's death "appears to not have been caused by injuries from the accident.
"We don't have any reason to believe there was foul play," he noted.
