Minnesota Twins fans have turned to Twitter and Twins president Dave St. Peter to voice their frustrations over the team losing longtime closer Joe Nathan to the Texas Rangers in free agency. Nathan agreed Monday night to a two-year contract with Texas worth $14.5 million with a club option for 2014.
St. Peter has been busy on his Twitter account responding to Twins' fans concerns over losing Nathan.
In response to a fan over the Twins returning to a limited payroll after 18 months in Target Field, St. Peter tweeted, "I wouldn't call $100M+"limited."
Another Twins fan tweeted that his wife wanted him to return their season tickets because the Twins got rid of Nathan in which St. Peter responded, "We got rid of Joe? He left
St. Peter tweeted that the Twins continue to have "ongoing discussions" with remaining free agents Michael Cuddyer, Jason Kubel and Matt Capps.
St. Peter tweeted his appreciation for Nathan and his family: "Joe and Lisa Nathan = Class Acts. Many contributions on the field and in community. THX for 8 great years with Twins. Best of luck in Texas."
